A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Whalan's military training has instilled in him an unwavering discipline and an unrelenting dedication to his community. With an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree from Virginia Peninsula Community College and a Bachelor's in Human Services with a focus on Substance Use Disorders from Old Dominion University, Whalan’s academic achievements are as impressive as his professional ones.
Whalan's influence doesn’t stop there. He is an esteemed member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and actively contributes as an Advisory Committee Member of the Y.H. Thomas Community Center in Hampton. His commitment to education is evident through his role on the Virginia Peninsula Community College Alumni Board. As President of the Do Gooders of Hampton Roads and Chairman of the Pretty In Pink Women's Empowerment Organization, Whalan leads with passion and vision. He also serves as President of the Shell Rd Community Association and the Usher Board at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, VA. Additionally, he coordinates the Fresh Start Job Readiness Program at the Center for Child & Family Services, empowering individuals to build brighter futures.
